In conclusion I’d like to offer you this. I have found that writing daily affirmations helps a lot as does reading a devotional and listening to positive music. It’s getting my mind to agree with what my soul already knows that is a daily struggle for me. I know it’s my heavenly father God who gave me my worth simply by creating me as one of His many divine works of art. In my own life I have experienced the highs and lows that come from believing wrongly that my worth fluctuates based on wether or not other people recognize it. Here’s the problem though all of those things are temporary. Money, looks, possessions…other people’s good or bad opinions of us, relationships with the “right” or “wrong” people the power given to us if we are political leaders or the owners of a business. It is vitally important to know your value! In this world we are constantly bombarded with messages that our worth can be increased or decreased by any number of external things. Well, I believe it’s a combination of wisdom from God and insight from friends and family that I’ve soaked up along the way by being a continual seeker of the truth. If you’re an analytical thinker (like me) You might be wondering: “ Okay but how did it get there?” If the saying :’You can’t give away what you do not already possess’ is true then the comfort and guidance I’ve spent my life looking outwardly to attain is already inside of me! The epiphany I had while turning this concept over and over in my mind was this. So as you can imagine when a new acquaintance told me that I made her feel at ease just by being me I was surprised yet again and this lead to some deep introspective thinking. Like most people reading this I have been rattled by this whole corona virus situation. Strangely enough I’m also the person that others come to for comfort and guidance and a lot of people have told me that I put them at ease just being around them. This kind of scenario is the perfect analogy for an epiphany I’ve had recently.įor as long as I can remember I’ve been the type of person who looked to God or other people for comfort in hard times and guidance with decision making. Have you ever searched all over for your keys only to realize that you were holding them in your hand the whole time or maybe they were in your pants pocket? I know I have! You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.I will be found by you,” declares the Lord.” – Jeremiah 29:11-13 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord’, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Chiseling away who I thought I should be to reveal his vision. Slowly but surely he has been hard at work. Even when he sees me struggle,he knows that everything that’s happening is helping me become who he always meant for me to be.

He isn’t worried that his vision for my life isn’t going according to plan. He has been working steadily at growing and shaping me into the person he created me to be.

Well, it turns out that God’s plans for my life didn’t quite match up to the one that has grown it’s root system so deep into my heart and my subconscious.įor so long I’ve felt left out overlooked, denied my hearts desires…but I’m slowly learning that nothing could be farther from the truth. Graduate from college and find the perfect job get married buy a beautiful home (or build one) and then start building your career and having kids and of course a dog and a picket fence. Fall in love with your soul mate either in high school or college get a great college degree by the time you’re about twenty one. The timeline I imagined is basically the one that the media and social traditions try to sell us as the ideal recipe for a happy life. Do you ever worry? I do! I always pictured my life following a certain timeline I think I’ve mentioned it before in my other posts but I’ll tell you again or for the first time if this is the first post of mine you’re reading.
